Witches of East End Book Review

Image
Now a popular television show, Witches of East End started as a novel by Melissa de la Cruz. The first in the Beauchamp series, Joanna, Freya, and Ingrid are just starting to rekindle their passion for magic and reignite the power inside them after being placed under a magical restriction since the horrible witch trials of Salem back in the 1600s. Each witch must deal with a new love (including one of a child) and a new era as they begin to use their magic again. This book was a fun and interesting read and I look forward to reading more about the Beauchamps and possibly watching the television series. About the Book: from Amazon: From the author of the highly addictive and bestselling Blue Bloods series, with almost 3 million copies sold, comes a new novel, Melissa de la Cruz's first for adults, featuring a family of formidable and beguiling witches. The three Beauchamp women-Joanna and her daughters Freya and Ingrid-live in North Hampton, out on the tip of Long Island. Their

Queen Emily's Enchanted Kingdom Sugarland Book Review

Image
Queen Emily's Enchanted Kingdom Sugarland by Lee-Ann Graff-Vinson Queen Emily's Enchanted Kingdom Sugarland is about Emily who goes to sleep at night and awakes (in her dream) in an Enchanted Kingdom where she becomes Queen Emily. In this book, Queen Emily awakes to find her kingdom covered in sweet, sweet treats. Does she start out trying to find out why her kingdom has mini donuts on the merry-go-round and a swimming pool full of Jell-O like her trusty unicorn friend Stargazer advises? Well, first Queen Emily has to find out if what looks like and what smells like sweets are indeed sweets. From there, it is a sweet adventure for her taste buds. But when is enough, enough? This is a very cute book. I believe this is a series. I read it with my 6-year-old daughter and we laughed out loud. She had me read it two times back-to-back and asked me to read it a third time, but it was past her bedtime. The pictures were great. The book was written by a mother and daughter team an

Burly and Grum and the Birthday Surprise Book Review

Image
Burly and Grum and the Birthday Surprise by Kate Tenbeth This short chapter book about a bear named Burly and his groblin friend Grum having a birthday day trip to a deserted island has many surprises. The blend of unique characters sets the Burly and Grum stories apart. Who would think to put a talking bear, a groblin, a human boy and an angel all in one story? Their personalities are diverse and entertaining. The setting is perfect for such a zany story. I recommend this book and look forward to the others in the series. The Truth About Delilah Blue

Image
The Truth About Delilah Blue by Tish Cohen is a mega long book. It's good, just really long. I feel like it took me forever to finish it!! Whenever I picked it back up I didn't put it down until I absolutely had to because I wanted to keep reading, but those times when I did have it down and wasn't reading it, there was no strong desire to pick it back up to continue reading it, which is probably why it took so long-because my breaks were so long. It's a good book, although it is not a book that stays on your mind a long while.  Delilah Blue Lovett was kidnapped by her father when she was 8. They fled their home country of Canada to come to Los Angeles, California, USA. Now she goes by Lila Mack and is 20 years old. This is when her mother finally finds her, after 12 years of searching.  Once Delilah finds out the truth, her world comes crashing down around her. Life gets pretty crazy, but with the help of her family and friend, she gets through this tough time. But unt

Burly & Grum's Halloween Adventure Book Review

Image
Burly & Grum's Halloween Adventure by Kate Tenbeth Burlington the bear, Grum the groblin and Max all dress up for Halloween as Dracula, the Hulk and a Mummy respectively. Once Burly and Grum get the hang of Halloween, it promises to be a fun night. When they meet a distraught fairy named Meg, it becomes an even more exciting night for the three friends. This is a nice Halloween story. My 6-year-old thought it was cute. We even loved the surprise addition of finding the audio book link at the end of the ebook. So we listened to the story again. I recommend this quick and fun little adventure. Rating 5/5 More reviews at www.cheresevinescharmingwords.wordpress.com

Pirates Voyage Fun, Feast and Adventure Review

Image
We loved this experience. Although we were late and passed it and had to come back, the staff were great and seated and served us right away. This is a great show. My children love Disney's Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and my daughter loves mermaids. This was the perfect show for my family. It had everything. My husband even liked it. :-) The seating is situated on either side of a huge tank/stage designed to look like three pirate ships. The Red and the Blue pirates face each other separated by the tank. We were Red pirates. It has good music, animals, acrobatics, audience participation, humor, suspense, and even a little scary part. The food was delicious. It was served in courses and the servers were efficient without letting us miss too much of the show. But there is so much going on, we'll have to go back to make sure we see it all. It was a great experience. Good for all ages. When you're looking for the building, look for the Opry first. It has the bigge
